BEHAVIOUR

The BEHAVIOUR study will assess whether the use of a multifaceted implementation strategy increases the proportion of patients receiving brief physical activity counselling by hospital physiotherapists. It will also assess if brief physical activity counselling by a hospital physiotherapist leads to improved physical activity levels among patients.

Physiotherapists in the intervention group will receive immediate support, via a multifaceted implementation strategy including education, learning collaboratives, tailored strategies (to overcome referral barriers) and audit/feedback mechanisms, to implement brief physical activity counselling into their care.

Physiotherapists in the control group will continue with usual care and receive an updated version of the implementation strategy at the end of the trial.

The trial will be conducted across hospitals in South Western Sydney Local Health District, including patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Aim/s: The BEHAVIOUR study aims to evaluate whether a multi-faceted implementation strategy improves the use of brief physical activity counselling in hospital-based physiotherapy compared to usual care.
