Established in 2025, the Falls Prevention Alliance Australia emerged from a national roundtable that brought together leading researchers, health professionals, policymakers, community organisations and people with lived experience. United by a shared commitment to reducing falls, Alliance members are working together to drive collaboration, champion evidence-based solutions and influence meaningful policy change.
The Alliance was founded by Prof Cathie Sherrington and Prof Anne Tiedemann from the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, alongside Prof Kim Delbaere (UNSW), David Barnes (Rotary) and a team of collaborators from organisations around Australia. Drawing on their extensive expertise, personal experiences and passion for falls prevention, the founders are committed to elevating falls prevention as a national health priority.
Falls Prevention Alliance Australia aims to:
-
Advocate for policy change
-
Promote evidence-based interventions
-
Foster cross-sector collaboration
