Fall prevention through education and coaching (PROTECT): a stepped wedge type I hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial

This project will directly inform fall prevention in Australian hospitals by rigorously evaluating whether quality improvement clinical facilitation can enhance implementation and effectiveness of fall prevention initiatives to support ward staff to reduce falls.

The aim of the project is to evaluate the impact of supported implementation of tailored ward-based fall prevention interventions on falls. We also aim to evaluate the cost-effectiveness, feasibility and acceptability of the program. We hope the findings of this project lead to understanding of how to support ward staff to prevent falls in hospitals.

Funding: This project has been funded by NHMRC 2022 Partnership Grant Scheme. (NHMRC ID APP2023898)
