SURESTEP – Improving mobility in hospitals: adaptation and implementation of an effective and cost-saving program

Our Team

The aim of this trial is to i) adapt and ii) test the impact of an effective and cost-saving group-based exercise mobility program across two hospitals in Sydney: St George Private Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.

The project plan, co-designed in collaboration with stakeholders, includes three stages (Figure 1):

Stage 1 will involve stakeholder collaboration with patients and clinicians through surveys, interviews/focus groups and observation to identify essential contextual strengths and constraints for adapting the program to local hospital contexts.

Stage 2 will involve a stepped-wedge trial to evaluate the program  effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.

Stage 3 will involve dissemination and scale-up planning in collaboration with stakeholders.
